This article made my cry at my desk. It reminds me of when our children came to live with us. We bought toys, matching bedding, the works to make up for the abuse and neglect. Guess what they remember?
ReplyDeleteThe songs we made up while we rocked them, getting used to being held lovingly. Kreighton loves to hear the story of special bottle feedings at night out on our deck, looking at the stars and the lights Daddy put in the tree, just thanking God for this child in my arms. My 18 year old still reminds me of how his coming to live with us when he was 2 healed my broken heart and I became a Mom. We have made lots of memories for our kids that we don't even think twice about. This article reminded me once again. My heart aches for the children in this article and around the world that just want to be loved and shown they matter. Thanks for reminding us to slow down and enjoy the season and all that it really means.
